Walnut Magazine - Pertwood Farm

A feature looking at the organic farming practices at Pertwood Farm, focused on building biodiversity and encouraging wildlife.

“Approaching Lower Pertwood Farm, the first thing you notice are the flowers; admittedly it’s hard not to. Bands of wildflowers burst with blues, purples and whites along the edge of fields – not token strips but broad swathes bursting with diversity and humming with wildlife. Yellow stripes of sunflowers cut across the landscape, and a smattering of crimson poppies provide the perfect backdrop. As you venture closer, your ears pick up the trill of bird song and the low hum of insect life that provide the soundtrack to the fields.“
